Guincho Beach

Guincho Beach is located in the Lisbon District of Spain, near the coast of Estoril and just 5 kilometers from the city of Cascais. It is one of the most famous Atlantic Ocean beaches in Spain and was the venue for the World Windsurfing Championship in the 1990s.

Guincho Beach has big waves all year round, especially from June to August, making it an ideal spot for surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing. In winter, particularly in December, the easterly winds also make it a great place for surfing and windsurfing. To enhance visitors’ surfing experience, several surf schools have been established nearby, offering beginner-friendly lessons. After the 1990s, the beach became one of the venues for the prestigious World Windsurfing Cup. Today, Guincho Beach also hosts major Portuguese sporting events such as the Portuguese National Surfing Championship and the Stand-Up Paddle Surfing Championship.

Guincho Beach has also served as a famous film location. Parts of the James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" were shot here, and the 2011 Portuguese film "This Side of Resurrection," directed by renowned director Joaquim Sapinho, was also filmed on this beach.
