Lisbon is located on the Atlantic coast in south-central Portugal and is the country's capital and largest city. Along with London, Paris, and Rome, it is one of the oldest cities in Western Europe. As the westernmost capital on the European mainland, it serves as the political, economic, cultural, and educational center of Portugal.

As a capital city built along the Atlantic coast, Lisbon sits at the mouth of the Tagus River, offering excellent geographical conditions that once supported Portugal’s maritime expeditions. For this reason, it has become the only capital city in Europe situated directly on the Atlantic Ocean. It is also a famous tourist destination in Europe and the most visited city in Portugal, attracting over 1 million tourists each year. As the locals say, those who haven’t seen Lisbon have not truly seen beauty. The city remains green all year round, blooming with flowers, resembling a charming and fragrant garden, with vast green spaces, countless parks, gardens, lawns, and grassy areas.

The city features a diverse range of architectural styles, including Romanesque, Gothic, Manueline, Baroque, modern, and postmodern architecture. In addition, there are numerous monuments and memorial towers.
