Almada is a city in the Lisbon District of Portugal, located just 3.55 kilometers from Lisbon. It gained city status in 1973 and is the sixth most populous city in Portugal. Situated on the southern bank of the Tagus River estuary, it faces the capital city of Lisbon across the river.
