Baiquan Mountain Park

Baiquan Mountain Park is located at the junction of the old and new districts of Jining, serving as a key node where “one mountain separates two cities.” To the north lies the old urban area, and to the south the new urban area. The planned construction area spans 7 square kilometers.

The park’s layout was designed by a well-known design company from Beijing, themed “Heroic Chahar, Charming Baiquan Mountain.” It follows the principles of ecological priority and adapting to local conditions, striving to highlight the mountain’s natural landforms, extend regional characteristics, integrate cultural activities, and enhance cultural significance. The construction includes five scenic functional areas: the main entrance, waterscape charm, forest ecology, cultural science education, and vibrant sports. Integrated seamlessly with Tiger Mountain, the park combines leisure and entertainment, historical and cultural education, distinctive sports activities, and ecological science outreach, becoming a unique urban landscape that showcases the city’s historical heritage and promotes its distinctive culture.

Baiquan Mountain itself has thick bedrock and thin soil, with more rocks than earth. To ensure the survival of planted seedlings, a method of digging large pits and covering them with soil was adopted. The project was publicly tendered in early 2011, with four companies undertaking the construction tasks. Over the course of three years, a total of 3.69 million trees were planted, including 1.02 million evergreen trees, 1.1 million deciduous trees, and 1.57 million shrubs. The seedling survival rate exceeded 98%. A total of 68 kilometers of park paths were built, along with 18 squares and 14 pavilions and towers.

Baiquan Mountain Park has now become an open comprehensive park comprising ten major scenic areas and eighteen individual attractions. It is truly the “urban green island” and “natural oxygen bar” of the city center, serving as a primary destination for leisure and recreation for local residents.
