Alaten Obo in Hanggin Banner is situated northwest of Bayinwusu Town, within the territory of Bairuhushu Gacha. It was built on the highest slope in the region, approximately 5 kilometers from the town center.

Alaten Obo has a history of several hundred years. It was the Obo of the Hanggin Prince, and the other seven banners and counties would come to hold memorial ceremonies every year. Later, it was placed under local administration. On the third day of the fifth lunar month each year, the local government, gacha, and herders organize memorial activities, offering sheep back sacrifices to the deities. This tradition continues to this day, and each ceremony also includes horse racing, wrestling, tug-of-war, and other competitive events.

The memorial activities at Alaten Obo have long played an important role in developing ethnic and religious affairs and maintaining national unity. At the same time, they have enriched the spiritual and cultural life of the people.
