Former Office Site of Ulanhu

The former office site of Ulanhu is a cultural relic protection unit of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, a classic red tourism attraction, and a base for patriotic education.

-- The former office site is located on the east side of Xing’an North Road in Ulanhot City. It was originally built in 1936, with a construction area of 403 square meters, and served as the office of senior Japanese military officers during the Japanese puppet regime. From February 1947 to November 1949, -- came to Wangye Temple to carry out work here upon the orders of the Northeast Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, presiding over the preparatory work for the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Government, leading the national liberation struggle of Inner Mongolia, and thus the site was named after him.

On July 1, 1947, the Communist Party of China Inner Mongolia Working Committee was established, with Comrade -- serving as the secretary, as well as the commander and political commissar of the Inner Mongolia People’s Self-Defense Army. He led the rural land reform and democratic reform in pastoral areas in Inner Mongolia, reorganized and developed the troops, eradicated bandits, and devoted himself wholeheartedly to the national liberation of Inner Mongolia, opening a new chapter in the history of Inner Mongolia.

-- The former office site consists of nine rooms, including the front hall, meeting room, and office. A statue of Comrade -- is displayed in the front hall, while each exhibition room is a recreation of his office scenes. Over 50 cultural relics are exhibited, all of which are items used by -- for work, study, and daily life. In 1997, during the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Comrade Buhe, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, visited the former office site of --. Moved by the sight of these objects, he wrote the large calligraphic scroll “A Glorious Journey, Shining Footsteps.” This phrase expressed the heartfelt sentiments of the people and has been hung on the office wall as a permanent memorial.

On May 28, 1996, the former office site was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit of the autonomous region.
