Former Site of Inner Mongolia Daily
The former site of Inner Mongolia Daily is a cultural relic protection unit of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and a classic red tourism destination.
The former site of Inner Mongolia Daily is located on the west side of Xing’an North Road in Ulanhot City, Xing’an League, Inner Mongolia, within the compound of the People’s Hospital of Horqin Right Front Banner.
The former site of Inner Mongolia Daily was originally built in 1935 as the Xing’an Medical College at Wangye Miao, with a construction area of 2,520 square meters. On July 1, 1946, the organ newspaper of the East Mongolia Branch of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Movement Federation, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Daily, was first published in Wangye Miao. On January 1, 1947, it was decided that the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Daily would come under the direct leadership of the CCP Inner Mongolia Working Committee. On January 1, 1948, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Daily was renamed
Inner Mongolia Daily and began publication in both Mongolian and Chinese as the official newspaper of the CCP Inner Mongolia Working Committee. The Inner Mongolia Daily is the earliest provincial-level party newspaper established in China’s ethnic minority regions and also the first daily newspaper published in the native language of the Mongolian people in their history. The launch of the Inner Mongolia Daily played a crucial role in publicizing the Chinese Communist Party’s ethnic policies, guiding the people of various ethnic groups in the Inner Mongolia Liberated Area in carrying out land reform and democratic reform in pastoral areas, combating bandits and local despots, and supporting the Northeast Liberation War.
In November 1949, the Inner Mongolia Daily moved to Zhangjiakou along with the CCP Inner Mongolia Working Committee and the government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The former site has since been used by the People’s Hospital of Horqin Right Front Banner.
In May 1996, the former site of Inner Mongolia Daily was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region by the People’s Government of the Autonomous Region.
