Site of the Command Headquarters of the Inner Mongolia Military Region

The Site of the Command Headquarters of the Inner Mongolia Military Region is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

The Site of the Command Headquarters of the Inner Mongolia Military Region is located on the west side of Xing’an North Road in Ulanhot City, Xinggan League, Inner Mongolia, and to the east of the outpatient building of the People’s Hospital of Horqin Right Front Banner. It currently houses the office building of the Bank of China Xinggan League Branch.

According to the "Autonomy Law of Eastern Mongolia," the Government of the Autonomous Government of Eastern Mongolia decided to establish the Eastern Mongolia People’s Autonomous Army on February 15, 1946, under the unified command of Asigun, Minister of Internal Defense of the Eastern Mongolia Autonomous Government, to lead the Mongolian armed forces in eastern Inner Mongolia. After the "April 3" Meeting in Chengde, in accordance with the spirit of the meeting, the Mongolian armed forces in the Inner Mongolia region were reorganized into the Inner Mongolia People’s Self-Defense Army, with [Name] serving as commander and Asigun as deputy commander. On June 3, 1946, the Xing’an Provincial Military District of the Inner Mongolia People’s Self-Defense Army was established, with Asigun also serving as commander, Chaok Baatar as deputy commander, Ha Feng’a as political commissar, and Zhang Ce as deputy political commissar.

On November 26, 1947, the Command and Political Department of the Inner Mongolia People’s Self-Defense Army was established, with [Name] serving as commander and political commissar of the Inner Mongolia People’s Self-Defense Army, and Asigun and Wang Zaitian as deputy commanders. On January 1, 1948, the Inner Mongolia People’s Self-Defense Army was renamed the Inner Mongolia People’s Liberation Army, and the Inner Mongolia Military Region was simultaneously established, with [Name] serving as commander and political commissar, Asigun (succeeded by Nachin Shuang’er after his death on January 31, 1948), and Wang Zaitian as deputy commanders. The Inner Mongolia Military Region had under its command the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 11th, and 16th Cavalry Divisions, the Zosotu League Column, the 3rd and 5th Independent Regiments, the Guard Regiment, and other units, with a total force of about 20,000 troops. On May 13, 1949, the Inner Mongolia People’s Liberation Army was officially incorporated into the People’s Liberation Army, and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Inner Mongolia Military Region was established, under the leadership of the Northeast Military Region, with [Name] serving as commander and political commissar, and Wang Zaitian and Nachin Shuang’er as deputy commanders.

The Site of the Command Headquarters of the Inner Mongolia Military Region was formerly successively the headquarters of the Xing’an Provincial Military District of the Inner Mongolia People’s Self-Defense Army, the site of the Command and Political Department of the Inner Mongolia People’s Self-Defense Army, the site of the Inner Mongolia Military Region of the Inner Mongolia People’s Liberation Army, and the site of the Inner Mongolia Military Region of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

In December 1949, the Command Headquarters of the Inner Mongolia Military Region relocated, and the site was repurposed. In the early 1980s, the Site of the Command Headquarters of the Inner Mongolia Military Region was demolished due to urban development.
