The Greater Khingan Mountains are a sacred land where ancient northern ethnic groups in China thrived. In ancient Chinese history, eight renowned ethnic groups—namely, the Donghu, Xiongnu, Xianbei, Khitan, Jurchen, Mongols, and Manchus—left their marks, among which the accomplished Donghu, Xianbei, Khitan, and Mongols originated and developed in different sections of the Greater Khingan Mountains. The Xing'an League Museum "explores the north, investigates the south, looks to the west, and gazes eastward, bringing together the entirety of Xing'an culture under one roof," serving as an artistic hall that showcases the historical culture of Xing'an and ancient Chinese civilization.

The Xing'an League Museum is located on Tao'erhe South Road, Xinqiao East Street, Ulanhot City, and officially opened on September 10, 2010. It is the first large-scale comprehensive modern museum in Xing'an League, and its completion marks a new milestone in the development of the museum sector in the region. The museum building is majestic and solemn, blending traditional ethnic elements, local characteristics, and the spirit of the times. It covers a construction area of 16,400 square meters, with an exhibition space of 3,600 square meters. The exhibition halls consist of two main galleries—the Historical Relics Gallery and the Stone Carving Art Gallery—as well as temporary exhibition spaces. The Historical Relics Gallery is further divided into sections including Clan Ancestors – Forest Hunters Who Pioneered Xing'an, the Donghu – Dominant Lords of the Frontier in Xing'an, the Xianbei – Grassland Dynasty Rising in Xing'an, the Khitan – Plateau Cavalry Formidable in Xing'an, the Mongols – Desert Nobles Emerging in Xing'an, Northern Ethnic Groups – Northern Frontier Stone Pillars Vowing to Defend Xing'an, as well as a Central Exhibition Area and an Interactive Exhibition Area. The museum houses over 1,200 cultural relics, ranging from simple stone tools used by early humans to various artifacts from social life before 1840, spanning a period of more than one million years. The relics are not only numerous and diverse in type but also of high quality and broad value. Among them, the Shang and Zhou dynasty bronzeware is exquisitely crafted, the Xianbei tombs are unparalleled in the world, the Liao dynasty horse tack is unmatched nationally, and the stone Buddha statues are incredibly varied. It can be described as a dazzling collection of treasures and masterpieces.

The Xing'an League Museum is a comprehensive history museum. Since its opening, it has fully leveraged the advantages of its relic collections, adhering to the principles of "effective protection, rational utilization, and strengthened management." It organically combines the functions of collection and preservation, scientific research, and public education, organizing various forms of exhibitions. As the first comprehensive history museum in Xing'an League, it attracts numerous domestic and international visitors with its superior exhibitions, beautiful environment, high-quality service, excellent order, and unique charm. It has become an important window for spreading China's outstanding ethnic cultures and engaging in international cultural exchanges. In the 21st century, this cultural hall, which gathers the essence of Greater Khingan Mountains relics, will continue to make greater contributions to the development of human material and spiritual civilization with its vibrant and dynamic new look.
