Attraction Introduction   The Aldan River is the largest tributary on the right bank of the Lena River in Russia. It is located in the southeastern part of the Sakha (Yakutia) Republic. Originating from the northern slopes of the Stanovoy Range, it flows north and northwest through the Aldan Plateau and the Lena Plateau, joining the main stream of the Lena River about 160 kilometers north of Yakutsk. It is 2,273 kilometers long, with a drainage basin covering 729,000 square kilometers. Its major tributaries include the Amga River, Maya River, and Uchur River. The average annual discharge at its mouth is 5,110 m²/s. Spring floods occur from May to June, while heavy flooding is common from August to September. The river is frozen from October to May of the following year, with an ice period of about seven months. Highlights   The river is home to fish species such as sturgeon and huso. The basin is rich in mineral resources including gold, coal, and mica.
