New Moscow railway station opens; intertwined metal branches resemble an "underground jungle"

The world’s most beautiful train station may soon have a new addition. A new metro station has recently opened on Moscow’s oldest metro line, the Russian capital’s most historic, featuring a modern design adorned with metallic decorations resembling an "underground forest," attracting crowds who stop to take photos.

Moscow’s metro is recognized as one of the largest subway systems in the world. According to 2013 data, it handles approximately 6.824 million passengers per day, making it an indispensable mode of transportation for locals.

Recently, a new station named "Troparyovo" was opened at the southwestern end of the oldest metro line, the Sokolnicheskaya Line, aiming to alleviate severe traffic congestion during peak hours in the southwestern part of Moscow.

Unlike other stations on this metro line, which are often decorated with historical statues and murals, the platform design of Troparyovo Station is highly surreal. The lighting fixtures are inspired by the concept of a "forest," with intertwined tree branches seemingly piercing through the underground, all crafted from metal. This bright and ultra-modern platform design could easily be counted among the world’s most beautiful stations.

According to official sources, two more new stations are planned to open below Troparyovo Station after 2015, which are expected to boost the development of the surrounding real estate and commercial areas. (News source: Central News Agency)
