China Airlines and Russia's Transaero Airlines sign agreement to share flights between Bangkok and Moscow

Taiwanese travelers now have a new option for exploring the world. Starting May 1, 2013, China Airlines and Russia’s Transaero Airlines will collaborate on operating the Taiwan–Russia air market through a codeshare partnership. Passengers can fly from Taoyuan Airport via Bangkok, Thailand, to Moscow, Russia, enjoying convenient round-trip flight services provided by both airlines.

China Airlines and Transaero Airlines held their codeshare signing ceremony today (25th) at the China Airlines campus in Taoyuan, marking a new milestone in air travel between Taiwan and Russia. Starting in May, passengers traveling between the two countries can use China Airlines’ Taoyuan–Bangkok flights, connecting with Transaero Airlines’ Bangkok–Moscow service. The route will offer two weekly flights: outbound flights CI833/CI9300 and return flights CI9301/CI836, facilitating convenient travel between Taiwan and Russia with a total journey time of approximately 14.5 hours including flight and transfer times.

Known as one of the “BRIC” nations, Russia boasts vast territory, abundant tourism resources, and tremendous development potential. This partnership will help expand China Airlines’ route network and enhance business and tourism exchanges between the two countries. Established on November 5, 1991, Transaero Airlines is Russia’s first private airline and also the first in Russia to operate foreign-made aircraft, offering international-standard services. The airline currently operates a fleet of 98 passenger jets, serving 196 domestic and international routes across Russia, and benefits from its hub in Moscow and an extensive domestic route network.
