Ostankino Estate

Ostankino Estate is located in the Northeastern Administrative Okrug of Moscow, the capital of Russia. Originally a private summer palace and theater for the Sheremetev noble family, it is now a famous attraction in Moscow. The estate includes a theater, a wooden castle, a Trinity Church built in the 17th century, and numerous pavilions in Italian and Egyptian styles. With its beautiful surroundings and rich artistic atmosphere, it is highly popular among tourists from around the world.

Ostankino Estate is the third-largest wooden building in the world, after the Todai-ji Temple in Nara, Japan, and the Old Government Buildings in Wellington, New Zealand. Although it appears to be made of marble, it is actually only clad in colored stucco and artificial marble on the exterior. The main building is a three-story structure entirely made of wood, but only the rooms in the left-wing annex and the theater are open to the public. The theater is an important part of the estate, and it is said that Count Sheremetev’s wife gained recognition for her outstanding beauty and talent during a performance here, eventually marrying the Count.
