Dubna

Dubna is a city in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located north of Moscow on the banks of the Volga River at the northern starting point of the Moscow Canal. Established as a city in 1956, it is a scientific hub. The city is home to the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the International University of Nature, Society and Man – Dubna.

Since 2007, Dubna has hosted an international jazz festival, a large free outdoor event lasting a week that is highly attractive to music lovers. Museums visitors can explore include the Dubna Archaeology and Local History Museum, the Museum of Science and Technology History at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, the Natural History Museum, and the Museum of Locks. The city also features one of the world’s tallest statues of Lenin, standing 25 meters high and built in 1937, located at the confluence of the Moscow Canal and the Volga River.
