Mytishchi

Mytishchi is a city in Moscow Oblast, Russia, located on the Yauza River in the northeastern part of the capital Moscow, and is the second-largest city in the oblast. Human settlement in the area dates back to the late Stone Age, and Slavs began settling here in the 8th century. The city was granted town status in 1925.

Mytishchi is the largest industrial center in Moscow Oblast, primarily known for its machine manufacturing and defense industries. It is also a significant educational hub, home to the University of Consumer Cooperatives of Moscow. The city is famous for its water pipeline, ordered to be built by Catherine the Great in the 18th century. This was the first pipeline in Russia constructed to supply purified water to the Kremlin. The Mytishchi Arena, an indoor sports venue completed in 2006, has a seating capacity of 7,000.
