Kolomna

Kolomna is an ancient city in the southern part of Moscow Oblast, Russia, located at the confluence of the Moskva River and the Oka River, 114 kilometers southeast of Moscow. It is both an important river port and a major railway hub. The city was first mentioned in historical records in 1177, making it a historic city in Russia.

The oldest structure in Kolomna is the Kolomna Kremlin, similar to the Moscow Kremlin. Built between 1525 and 1531, it is a masterpiece of ancient Russian military fortification, consisting of the Cathedral of the Dormition, the church bell tower, and the Borisoglebsky Convent. The city's residential buildings are uniquely charming, featuring classic old-world designs adorned with ornate carvings that truly transport you back in time. In addition, visitors can explore the Bobrenev Cloister, the Novo-Golutvin Monastery, and the Church of John the Baptist—the only surviving 14th-century building in Moscow Oblast.
