The Queen Sofía Palace of the Arts is located in the Spanish city of Valencia and is part of the "City of Arts and Sciences." The Queen Sofía Palace of the Arts was designed by the world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, born in Valencia. Construction began in 1995, and it was completed and opened to the public in 2005. Beethoven’s opera Fidelio had its premiere here on October 25, 2006. The opera house consists of 14 floors above ground and 3 underground, with a total height of 75 meters, making it the tallest opera house in the world. Its curved roof structure covers an area of 40,000 square meters, stretching 230 meters in length, and comprises four halls. The main hall is primarily used for opera performances and features the world's third-largest stage, accommodating 120 musicians and over 1,700 spectators. It can also be used for dance and other forms of artistic performances. The other three halls are relatively smaller and serve different purposes, including concerts and chamber music recitals.
