Museum of Ethnology of Valencia

The Museum of Ethnology of Valencia was established in 1982 as both a research base and a public educational space dedicated to ethnology and anthropology. Its goal is to promote a greater understanding of the diversity and richness of the culture within the Valencian Autonomous Community, highlighting the significant influence of different cultures on the region.

The museum showcases the various ethnic groups living in the Valencian Autonomous Community and their ways of life. It houses a collection of over 10,000 items related to history and culture, including clothing, accessories, farming tools, jewelry, ironware, wooden artifacts, sculptures, and more. Each exhibit tells the story of the region’s history and the culture embedded within it. The permanent exhibition is divided into three main sections, featuring five key elements: the urban habitat, vegetable farms, marshlands, dryland valleys, and mountains. These five elements are closely tied to the ethnic groups residing in the area, illustrating how people have leveraged available resources to achieve self-reliance and prosperity.

In addition to its permanent exhibitions, the Museum of Ethnology of Valencia also hosts temporary exhibitions and craft workshops to help visitors gain a better understanding of ethnic and cultural diversity around the world.
