Introduction Peter Paul Rubens' House is a studio and residence that Rubens built over five years starting in 1610. At the time, European nobility and artists often visited him here. After restoration from 1939 to 1946, it has now become a municipal art museum, exhibiting some of Rubens’ paintings.

Rubens was born in Germany, the son of an Antwerp native. When he was 12, his father died, and he subsequently returned to Antwerp with his mother. He not only had a talent for painting but was also a diplomat fluent in seven languages.
