Mentioning red-light districts might make people blush, even feel embarrassed or reluctant to talk about. However, in many parts of the world, these areas have become popular tourist attractions, and Amsterdam in the Netherlands is the prime example. Of course, besides Amsterdam, countries such as Thailand, Germany, and Japan also have similar districts, all ranked among the world’s most popular red-light areas.

Netherlands Amsterdam — De Wallen
The red-light district in Amsterdam is most densely concentrated around the alleys near the Old Church and the Chinatown area, covering the entire city center, with scattered spots even extending westward to the Singel canal. Visiting the red-light district in Amsterdam doesn’t require sneaking around — it’s actually one of the city’s official tourist activities.
