After several days of rain, May 19th brought the first taste of early summer weather. The greenery at Zhongshan Mausoleum Sports Park in the eastern suburbs of Nanjing was lush, and more than 500 cycling enthusiasts from across the country gathered here to participate in the 13th "Giant Cup" Eight-Hour Mountain Team Relay Cycling Race, advocating green travel through their actions. Members of the Asian Bicycle Exhibition project team came to watch the race, cheering on the participants while also undertaking the responsibility of inspecting the venue for "Demo Day." After a full day of on-site experience and field inspection, the Asian Bicycle Exhibition project team unanimously approved the venue at Zhongshan Mausoleum Sports Park.
At dawn, as the starting gun fired, endurance racers rushed to begin their eight-hour relay race. The age range of participating cyclists was quite broad—there were young men and middle-aged women alike, but regardless of age, their enthusiasm for cycling was the same. Due to the muddy and potholed ground from previous days of rain, some riders inevitably lost balance and fell off their bikes, but none of this dampened their dedication to cycling.
