Another highlight of this year’s "Giant Cup"—the Bicycle Carnival—was held concurrently at the Nanjing National Fitness Center. It featured time-limited speed challenges, children’s safe cycling activities, slow bicycle races, and additionally, professional riders were invited to perform BMX shows on-site, earning gasps of amazement from the audience.
The event attracted a large number of citizens to watch and participate. Your correspondent could feel the extraordinary appeal and drawing power of cycling culture in the city of Nanjing. A relevant organizer of the event stated: "The creation of this bicycle carnival aims to popularize and deeply embed a healthy and positive cycling culture among the public, allowing bicycle sports to be more than just the domain of racers, but to involve more people, to understand the charm of cycling, and to fall in love with this healthy, aerobic lifestyle."
Among them, the Children’s Safe Cycling Activity has made its second public appearance. At the 2014 Asian Cycling Expo, which just concluded in October of this year, the first Children’s Safe Cycling Activity themed "Baby Care Action" was successfully held. To continue this public welfare initiative, the Children’s Safe Cycling Activity has set off once again. Over the weekend, many parents brought their children to sign up for the event. Thanks to the thoughtful arrangements made by the organizers, all the children were equipped with protective cycling gear and chose suitable bicycles to enjoy a joyful riding experience. Kids who successfully completed the riding requirements received MOON children’s helmets as prizes. Many parents said that the activity was very meaningful, helping to raise children’s awareness of safe cycling. Parents expressed hope that this public welfare activity would continue to be held on a long-term basis.
