In bustling train stations, touching moments such as reunions and farewells are among the most beloved sights for many travelers. However, in many parts of the world, train stations are not just buildings that provide train stops and directions for travelers. The stations themselves, whether classical or modern, with their elegant lines carved by day and night light, are in fact the most beautiful railway scenery.

Belgium — Antwerp Central Station

Completed in 1905, the central station underwent recent renovations and is bustling with travelers. This magnificent Neo-Baroque building features extensive use of metal and glass materials, along with classical clocks, gilded wall decorations, and grand stone steps, earning it the reputation of Europe’s “Railway Cathedral.” Abundant natural light streams through the glass roof into the station, adding a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere to the busy hub. On sunny days, it’s common to see art students earnestly sketching in the hall.

Japan — Tokyo Station

Completed in 1914, Tokyo Station features an elegant red brick exterior in the Renaissance style, giving the entire building a dignified appearance. Compared to its classical exterior, the interior of Tokyo Station feels surprisingly modern. LCD screens are seen throughout, continuously displaying the latest news. The station is also equipped with trendy cafes, restaurants, bookstores, and even offers traditional Japanese performing arts shows, as well as lodging options.

Japan — Kanazawa Station, Ishikawa Prefecture

Above the east entrance of JR Kanazawa Station is a giant glass dome resembling a spider web, as if a super-large umbrella surrounds the station, hinting at the city's rainy climate. Outside the glass dome is a vermilion-colored "Drum Gate," modeled after the Kaga Hosho drum used in Noh theater. The ultra-modern glass dome paired with the traditional-inspired Drum Gate symbolizes Kanazawa as a splendid city that bridges past and present. JR Kanazawa Station is also a major railway hub in the Hokuriku region, offering train services to cities such as Nagoya, Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo. The bus terminal in front of the east entrance not only provides buses to various attractions in Kanazawa but also long-distance buses to places like Takayama and Shirakawa-go.
