In recent years, the number of cyclists has surged dramatically. Aside from the riverside bike paths planned by various cities and counties, many people also bring their foldable bikes along when driving for trips, enjoying the comfort of riding with the wind at scenic spots across Taiwan. But the biggest concern for cycling tourism is safety—riders fear waking up to find their beloved bikes gone. That’s why a hotelier in Kenting teamed up with Giant to create Taiwan’s first “Bike-Friendly Lodge,” featuring thoughtful designs that offer cyclists greater peace of mind during their travels.

The “Bike-Friendly Lodge” features a loft-style room.

Most bikes on the road are worth just a few thousand NT dollars, but advanced models designed for long-distance rides, mountain climbing, or off-road adventures come with a wide price range—typically starting from around NT$10,000–20,000, and going up to several hundred thousand for high-end versions. A single moment of carelessness could result in an entire bike being stolen, so cyclists tend to be very selective about where they stay.

The “Bike-Friendly Lodge,” established in 2009, has gained some fame in the cycling community.

Stepping into the “Bike-Friendly Lodge” created by Kenting Howard Beach Resort and Giant, you can even check in without getting off your bike—just ride straight through the entrance. The counter is designed at a height that allows you to complete the check-in process while still seated on the saddle, without needing to dismount. If you don’t want to buy a bike just for occasional rides or find it troublesome to transport your own bike to Kenting, the lodge also offers bike rentals, with a variety of Giant models to choose from. Besides planning your own routes, you can also join the lodge’s package tours, where professional guides will lead you on bike rides through Kenting’s mountain and coastal scenery.

The Bike-Friendly Lodge has 68 guest rooms, including two types: Knight Family Rooms and Loft-Style Knight Family Rooms. Each room is equipped with a bike rack, allowing you to hang your bike on the wall. This not only saves space but also ensures you won’t lose sleep worrying about where your bike is.

Bikes can be hung on the wall in every room.

There’s also a year-round Giant bike maintenance service station and a bike experience academy. Options include beginner experience camps and Taiwan’s first “Off-Road Bike Trail Experience Area,” where both adults and children can easily enjoy the fun of cycling.

The year-round bike maintenance service station offers free safety inspections by Giant professionals, and advanced maintenance services are available for a fee.
