Geel is located midway between Antwerp, Hasselt, and Leuven, and is a city in the province of Antwerp, Belgium.

Geel is a worthwhile destination within the province of Antwerp and serves as an important economic and cultural hub in the region. The Market Square, facing the Church of Saint Dymphna and surrounded by numerous cafés, is a famous local attraction, as well as an important cultural and recreational plaza for local residents. The historic town hall, dating back to the 17th century, bears witness to the long history of this small town. Other interesting local sights include the blooming orchid fields, the century-old linden trees that are covered with small white flowers and exude a jasmine-like fragrance every spring, the Geel War Cemetery commemorating the four hundred soldiers who died in one of the fiercest battles of World War II, the Clock Museum showcasing various styles of timepieces, and the exquisite Lamp Museum. In addition, the area’s scenic parks are also worth a visit. Every August, the Geel Reggae Festival, the largest reggae event in Europe, takes place in the city, attracting numerous visitors from far and wide.
