Introduction The Palais Garnier is the largest opera house in the world dedicated to performing grand opera. Covering an area of nearly 11,000 square meters, it can accommodate more than 2,000 spectators and stages numerous classic operas every year. Designed by Charles Garnier, the opera house was built between 1862 and 1875, almost encompassing all architectural styles predating the era of Napoleon III. The exterior façade is adorned with a wealth of decorative elements, all typical of the Napoleon III period. The opera house also includes a ballet school and a library, and now serves as a venue for national dance performances and a music conservatory.
