Iran Glass and Ceramics Museum

The Iran Glass and Ceramics Museum is located in Tehran, the capital of Iran, near the Jewelry Museum. Opened in 1980, it is housed in an elegant century-old mansion and primarily collects and displays glass and ceramic artworks from various dynasties. The building that houses the museum features a fusion of traditional Iranian architecture and 19th-century European styles, spans two floors, and was designated as a national heritage site of Iran in 1998.

The glass and ceramic artworks collected in the museum are extremely rare within Iran, with some dating back to as early as the BC era. European glassware from the 18th and 19th centuries is also part of the exhibits. Based on collections from different periods, the museum is divided into eight exhibition areas, such as glassware from the 1st century BC, ceramics from the 9th–10th centuries, ceramics from the 12th–13th centuries, and glassware from the 19th century. Wandering among the diverse array of glass and ceramic pieces, one can’t help but be filled with awe when viewing these exquisitely crafted historical objects. These artifacts are not merely relics left by ancestors, but also embody history, culture, and artistry born from human ingenuity.
