Erbil is the fourth-largest city in Iraq, located approximately 80 kilometers east of Mosul, and is also the capital of the Kurdistan Region in northern Iraq. At the same time, Erbil is a very ancient city, with human settlements dating back to the 24th century BC.

Erbil is a beautiful city, and its most famous attraction is the Erbil Citadel, a raised earthen mound that quietly tells the story of the area’s long history. Standing about 25 to 32 meters above the surrounding ground, it is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in the world. At night, the lights of downtown Erbil cast a glow on this historic citadel, while nearby tall mosques, quaint buildings, and the vibrant Franso Hariri Stadium all contribute to the city’s captivating charm. The Textile Museum, established in 2004, houses exquisite textiles produced in the Kurdistan Region of northern Iraq, as well as workshops where textile workers once toiled, complete with looms and embroidery displays. Here, visitors can also witness master weavers passing down their ancient and refined skills to the younger generation.
