Banias Qal’at al-Hosn Castle

Banias Qal’at al-Hosn Castle is located in the coastal mountainous region of Syria, about 40 kilometers from Latakia. The castle is almost entirely destroyed, with only remnants and damaged walls remaining. It dates back to the 12th century and is said to have been a fortress of the Israelite Arabs, built entirely of stone. This ruined castle can be reached via a footpath. The most well-preserved parts are the walls and the arches atop them. From the remains of the walls, it's clear that the construction techniques of the time were quite advanced—the circular arches are still quite impressive.
