Hegra (Madain Salih) Archaeological Site
The Hegra (Madain Salih) Archaeological Site, once known as Hegra, is the largest surviving site of the Nabatean civilization located south of Petra in Jordan. The site features well-preserved monumental tombs with ornate facades dating back to the 1st century BCE to the 1st century CE.
The Hegra (Madain Salih) Archaeological Site also contains around 50 inscriptions predating the Nabatean civilization and several cave paintings, serving as unique evidence of the Nabatean culture. The site includes 111 monumental tombs, 94 of which have decorated facades, as well as numerous wells, highlighting the architectural achievements and hydraulic engineering knowledge of the Nabateans.
