Beijing, May 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Shangri-La International Hotel Management Ltd. and Assila Investment Company have signed a memorandum of understanding to manage a luxury hotel and serviced residences in Jeddah Port, the second-largest city in Saudi Arabia. The property is expected to open in 2018 and will be Shangri-La’s first hotel in Saudi Arabia.
The hotel will feature 242 rooms within a 65-story landmark building currently under construction on Corniche Road in Jeddah Port, overlooking the Red Sea. Shangri-La will also manage 122 serviced apartment units within the tower. The hotel will include three restaurants, function rooms, a grand ballroom spanning three floors, a luxurious spa and fitness center, swimming pools, a children’s club, and several lounges.
The tower has been designed by globally renowned architecture firm Perkins+Will. Its innovative design won the “Best Tall Building” award at the 2009 MIPIM Architectural Review Future Projects Awards. The structure rises dramatically along the waterfront, offering stunning sea views. Its façade features hybrid fiber materials that provide appropriate sun shading for interior spaces, help shield balconies from wind and ensure privacy, and incorporate built-in LED lighting to create a distinctive exterior light effect.
