According to Saudi media reports on the 19th, a 25-year-old Saudi female university student successfully climbed Mount Everest on the 18th, becoming the first Saudi woman to conquer the world's highest peak.
Arab News reported that Rahaf Mohareb, a female university graduate from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, ascended Mount Everest from the Nepalese side on the morning of the 18th along with 63 other climbers, and all climbers returned safely.
Rahaf formed a climbing team with three other male climbers, including one Qatari and one Palestinian, all of whom made history for their respective countries. This climbing team planned to raise $1 million for an educational charity project in Nepal.
Rahaf said that although mountaineering is a challenging sport, her family fully supported her. She said she doesn’t care about being the first Saudi woman to climb Everest—what matters more to her is whether others will follow.
