If you think there are no places on Earth that humans have never set foot in, then you're wrong. From the polar regions to some remote deserts, there are still countless places on our planet that remain untouched “virgin territories.” The reason these places are still unvisited is simply because no one wants to go there.

One of the best examples is in the mountaineering world — there are still many peaks on Earth that no human has climbed. Topping the list is Mount Gongga, located in the Kingdom of Bhutan, standing at 7,541 meters above sea level. It is the 40th highest mountain in the world and the highest unclimbed peak. Climbers have made three attempts to reach its summit, but each ended in failure.

In the foreseeable future, it may still remain unconquered, as in 1994 the Bhutanese government, considering local religious beliefs, prohibited climbing any peaks over 6,000 meters.
