Gourmet Delights: Thailand to Host the "2016 Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards"

Thailand's culinary scene has had a bumper year, not only with five of its restaurants being named in the 2015 Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list, but the Tourism Authority of Thailand recently also announced that it has been selected as the host destination for the 2016 Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards, aiming to promote the country’s unique cuisine.

At this year’s awards ceremony held in Singapore for the 2015 Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, Bangkok’s Gaggan restaurant claimed the top spot. Nahm also secured seventh place, while other Thai restaurants on the list included Eat Me by celebrity chef Tim Butler (25th), Bo.Lan (37th), and Ian Kittichai’s Issaya Siamese Club (39th).

Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, said the event will not only attract tourists and food enthusiasts to visit Thailand, but also give them the chance to enjoy the winning restaurants’ gourmet offerings while experiencing a holiday in Thailand.

The Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards is an initiative by media company William Reed Business Media, held annually since 2013. Eligible Asian countries include: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Micronesia, Nauru, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
