The seafood on Carey Island mainly includes crabs, prawns, and a wide variety of fish. These can be found just about anywhere, but what truly stands out is the exceptional flavor that leaves a lasting impression and keeps people coming back. The Mah Meri indigenous people are concentrated along the banks of the Benut River and are renowned for their exquisite wood carvings. The Mah Meri artisans draw inspiration for their art from reverence for their ancestors. Through various statues, they continue the legendary stories of their heritage, which are traditionally preserved through oral storytelling by tribal elders. In addition to producing wood carvings, the Mah Meri also perform their unique traditional dances and music on special occasions.
