Besides visiting local attractions and savoring regional cuisine, stumbling upon traditional festivals or sporting events can truly enrich your travel experience. October in Malaysia is thrilling, cultural, and vibrant, with six unmissable arts and sports events that are well worth exploring.

1. 2015 Malaysia International Gourmet Festival
Date: October 1–31
Venue: Selected hotels across Malaysia

The Malaysia International Gourmet Festival has been held for eleven consecutive years, and the twelfth edition will kick off in October. Renowned restaurants and top chefs will prepare a variety of dishes and snacks using the freshest and finest ingredients, offering a feast for food lovers. This festival is the perfect time to explore Malaysia and sample its diverse culinary offerings.

2. 2015 Colorful Kuala Lumpur
Date: October 17
Venue: Merdeka Square, Kuala Lumpur

Colorful Kuala Lumpur is an iconic tourism event in Malaysia, and this year it will deliver an unprecedentedly delightful experience with a refreshed brand and concept.

3. International Indigenous Peoples Cultural Festival
Date: October 23–25
Venue: Titiwangsa Lake Gardens, Kuala Lumpur

The International Indigenous Peoples Cultural Festival is a unique celebration shared by indigenous communities from around the world. During the festival, visitors can enjoy distinctive music, dance, cultural performances, art exhibitions, specialty product fairs, and various mini-shows.

4. Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix
Date: October 23–25
Venue: Sepang International Circuit, Selangor

The Malaysian Motorcycle Championship celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the organizers have added special elements to the annual motorcycle carnival, such as a Motorcycle Championship Hall of Fame and exclusive 25th-anniversary merchandise. The event also includes long-standing fan favorites and new activities, including a pre-race anniversary party, stunt performances, Mini GP races for drivers, a public pit lane walk, autograph sessions with riders, safe driving awareness campaigns, and pre-race grid interviews.

5. BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon
Date: October 24
Venue: Putrajaya Square Zone 3

Thousands are expected to participate in the 5-kilometer BSN Putrajaya Night Marathon, jogging or walking through the scenic streets of Putrajaya. Participants will wear glow-in-the-dark apparel (such as luminous shoes) to complete the marathon under dazzling fluorescent lights. The city will also be adorned with countless colors and glowing effects, creating a stunning backdrop for the night runners.

6. PGA Tour CIMB Classic
Date: October 29–November 1
Venue: Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club

The fairways of Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club will host the final event of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup series in 2015—the CIMB Classic. As the only official PGA Tour event in Southeast Asia, the CIMB Classic features a field of 78 players and a prize purse of $7 million, making it one of the highest-paying professional golf tours in the region.
