Shah Alam

Shah Alam is the capital of Selangor, Malaysia, and the first planned city established in the country after 1957. The city is famous for its towering mosques, which have become the most photogenic structures in the skyline and are absolutely not to be missed.

Shah Alam offers a wide range of tourist attractions, including magnificent mosques and colorful parks. Among the many mosques, the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Mosque is the most renowned. Commonly known as the Blue Mosque, it is the state mosque of Selangor and can accommodate up to 24,000 worshippers during Friday prayers, making it the largest mosque in Malaysia. The Blue Mosque overlooks the Islamic Arts Garden, which spans 14 hectares and is divided into nine distinct exhibition zones showcasing sculptures, calligraphy, oil paintings, and architecture. The Selangor State Museum, opened in 1989, primarily exhibits the history and culture of the state.

The most popular park in Shah Alam is the Shah Alam Lake Gardens, covering an area of 43 hectares. It boasts a serene and pleasant environment with lush green lawns and regularly hosts a variety of events, including international rowing regattas and the Selangor Orchid Show.
