Introduction

The Singapore History Museum was established in 1887 and is an architectural classic embodying the neoclassical style. The museum was formerly part of the Raffles Museum, which also included the Singapore Art Museum, the Asian Civilisations Museum, and the Singapore History Museum. It wasn’t until 1993 that these three sections became independent. Now, the Singapore History Museum primarily focuses on researching and presenting Singapore’s history and ethnic culture. It has six permanent exhibition galleries that encapsulate the history of Singapore, highlighting the evolution of life and customs since the 14th century, especially the lives of early Chinese immigrants.
