The Victorian-style National Orchid Garden is home to over 12,000 precious orchid plants, including Singapore’s world-renowned national flower — the Vanda Miss Joaquim — and a lavender orchid named after the 4 millionth visitor to Singapore, Jane Dennis from Australia. Many other orchid varieties are named after famous women worldwide. Introduction

Covering an area of 54 hectares, the Singapore Botanic Gardens is famed for its research and collection of tropical plants and horticultural flowers. The gardens boast over 20,000 varieties of subtropical and tropical exotic flowers and rare trees. All plants are labeled with their scientific names and places of origin. The National Orchid Garden features numerous orchid species as well as rare bromeliads from Central and South America. Other attractions include the Palm Valley, Eco-Lake, and open-air concerts at Symphony Lake. The gardens also house a library with a collection of 10,000 volumes and a herbarium that includes about 500,000 preserved specimens of herbaceous plants. Dining/Accommodation/Shopping
