Introduction

The Armenian Church is a Victorian-style white building situated next to the U.S. Embassy on Hill Street. It is the oldest church in Singapore, and its interior remains preserved as it was when originally constructed. Built in 1835, it was funded by 12 Armenian families living in Singapore, hence its name. Also known as St. Gregory’s Church, it was meticulously designed by colonial-era architect George Coleman. The open space outside the church houses a cluster of Armenian tombstones. The church is now listed as a national monument of Singapore. Transportation
