St. Joseph’s Church

St. Joseph’s Church is located on Victoria Street in Singapore’s Central Business District. It is a Roman Catholic church in Singapore, initially built by the Portuguese Mission from 1851 to 1853 and rebuilt between 1906 and 1912. It is famous for its annual Good Friday observances.

The church was gazetted as a national monument of Singapore in 2005, becoming one of the most important Roman Catholic churches in the country. St. Joseph’s Church is a traditional structure with a portico, featuring a Latin cross layout, an angle-tower bell tower, and a square fort. It is hailed as a marvel in the history of church architecture, and its distinctive stained glass windows are also a major highlight. On Good Friday, the church fills with worshippers celebrating this significant occasion, and the grand – scene is truly breathtaking.
