Bukit Timah Nature Reserve is located near Bukit Timah Hill and takes its name from Singapore’s highest peak—Bukit Timah Hill, which lies within the reserve. Covering an area of 400 acres, though relatively small in size, it is one of Singapore’s most biodiverse protected areas and also home to the country’s largest tract of primary rainforest.

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve has always retained Singapore’s most pristine and untouched beauty. It is home to over 840 species of flowering plants, including towering ancient trees, ferns, orchids, palms, and many unusual plant species—with new ones still being discovered. There are also more than 500 animal species, the most common being long-tailed macaques, flying lemurs, and squirrels. Please note that feeding these animals is not allowed. The reserve also boasts a sizable bird population, with commonly spotted species including the chestnut-capped babbler, peaceable kingfisher, fork-tailed drongo, and nightingale—all of which fill the tranquil reserve with their melodious songs each day.

There are also various recreational activities available for visitors in Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Walking, hiking, and jogging are popular options, while some people enjoy climbing Bukit Timah Hill or riding mountain bikes.
