Taipei Yuanshan Park

Yuanshan Park was first opened in 1897 during the Japanese colonial period, making it Taiwan’s first public park. With over 100 years of history, it was incorporated into the exhibition area during the 2010 Taipei International Flora Expo and is now part of the Flora Expo Park. It is situated in Zhongshan District, Taipei City, approximately to the west of Section 3 of Zhongshan North Road, within an area bordered by Jiushui Street, Yumen Street, and the Keelung River, covering an area of about 21 hectares.

To the north of Yuanshan Park lies the former site of the Taipei Children’s Amusement Center — the old locations of Taipei Zoo (now relocated to Muzha District) and the Children’s Amusement Park. To the south is Zhongshan Football Stadium; to the west are the Yuanshan Station on the Tamsui Line and Xinzhuang Line of the Taipei Metro; and to the east it faces Taipei Fine Arts Museum and Zhongshan Second Park across Zhongshan North Road. The outermost northern edge is bordered by the Keelung River, with Yangmingshan Da Hotel situated not far up the hillside on the opposite bank. The park enjoys an exceptionally prime location. Today, Yuanshan Park, also known as Zhongshan No. 1 Park, features large expanses of lawn as its main landscape, while near the Línjì Hùguó Chán Temple (Linji Patriotic Chan Temple) area, some old trees retaining historic appearances can still be found. The park has the largest space dedicated to inline skating activities, as well as numerous shaded resting areas and lawn activity spaces. With many attractions nearby, it is a perfect spot for Taipei residents to enjoy leisure and outdoor activities on holidays.
