The Tree Flame Memorial Paper Museum, abbreviated as Tree Flame Paper Museum, is located on Section 2, Chang’an East Road, Zhongshan District, Taipei City. Covering an area of 160 pyeong, it is managed by the Tree Flame Memorial Paper Culture Foundation, a public foundation. Established and opened to the public in October 1995, the museum was created to honor Chen Shuhuo, founder of Changchun Cotton Paper Enterprise, and his wife Chen Fengjiao, who both lost their lives in the 1990 Guangzhou Baiyun Airport aircraft collision incident, as well as to further promote paper culture.

The Tree Flame Memorial Paper Museum is Taiwan’s first and only museum dedicated to paper. It primarily features lively and engaging exhibits along with hands-on educational activities that allow more people to deeply understand, promote, and pass on the invaluable cultural significance of paper in Chinese heritage. The museum has four floors: the first floor showcases handmade paper artworks from around the world and traditional handmade papermaking demonstrations that can be seen in paper mills, along with a selection of related souvenirs such as books, paper products, and art gifts. The second floor provides a detailed look at the invention and global spread of papermaking, allowing visitors to explore the secrets behind the raw materials and dyes used in the process. The third floor offers insights into Taiwan’s papermaking history and the unique characteristics of Taiwan’s paper-producing regions. Here, visitors can also learn about the properties of paper and various interesting facts through hands-on activities and live demonstrations. The fourth floor houses a handmade paper workshop where visitors can observe the processing methods of papermaking materials, including soaking, boiling, and bleaching.
