Macao Fire Services Museum

The Macao Fire Services Museum is located in the Command Building of the Fire Services Bureau at 2-6 Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, Macao. It was officially opened on December 11, 1999, by the then Director of the Macao Fire Services Bureau, Kong Sai Sang, and is a museum themed around land-based firefighting.

The Command Building is a two-storey structure designed by Macao architect Chan Kun Pui and features South European architectural style. The Fire Services Museum is situated in the lobby of the Command Building, covering an area of approximately 350 square metres. It houses a collection of over 700 exhibits, displayed across two exhibition areas: the Main Exhibition Hall and the Inner Exhibition Hall.

The Main Exhibition Hall displays two fire engines manufactured in the UK in the 1950s, two hand-operated water pumps made in China in 1884 and 1908 respectively, and one hand-operated water pump made in the UK in 1877. In addition to the historical flags and insignia of the Macao Fire Services Bureau, related documentation, medals and badges awarded to the bureau are also exhibited. The Inner Exhibition Hall features a model of the expanded Central Operations Station of the Macao Fire Services Bureau located on Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, historic firefighting helmets and boots, a fire alarm bell, wooden well signs, hook ladders, various types of breathing apparatus for firefighters, three traditional Chinese hose nozzles, fire hydrants from different eras on the streets of Macao, as well as a simulated scene of a major fire in Macao’s wooden housing area.
