In contrast to the bustling and densely populated city center, it is like an oasis in the desert. To align with the Macao government’s policy of revitalizing the old urban area, Sociedade de Turismo e Diversões de Macau, S.A. (abbreviated as “STDM”) invested in building a theme park named “Grand Lisboa” in the Inner Harbour area. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 8, 2002. The landscape design of the park’s gardens will revolve around the theme of “water and land integration.” The park features a riverside walking path, a variety entertainment plaza, and gently flowing streams that run through the area, creating a pleasant and beautiful urban walking space. In terms of architectural design, environmental considerations have been taken into account to minimize the impact on the riverbed ecology. Once completed, the development will occupy roughly equal portions of existing land and sea, with over 47% green coverage and a total volume nearly double that of the original.
