Introduction

The main attractions of Ngong Ping 360 include the Ngong Ping Cable Car and Ngong Ping Village. The Ngong Ping Cable Car is a cable car system connecting Tung Chung and Ngong Ping. The “360” in its name signifies that passengers can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view from the cable car. Construction began in February 2004 and it officially opened to traffic on September 18, 2006. The entire cable car route spans 5.7 kilometers, with the journey taking approximately 20 minutes. Upon completion, Ngong Ping 360 became the fastest and highest-capacity transportation mode between Tung Chung and Ngong Ping. It is the second cable car system in Hong Kong after Ocean Park. Designed with a double cable system, in addition to the two main stations at Ngong Ping and Tung Chung, it also includes two turning stations, located on Airport Island and in the Tai Mo Shan area of Lantau Island. There are eight cable towers in total, built across Tung Chung, Airport Island, the outlying islands, and the Lantau North Country Park. Each Ngong Ping 360 cable car can accommodate up to seventeen passengers. Passengers can take in views of Hong Kong International Airport, the South China Sea, the Big Buddha, and the natural beauty of the Lantau North Country Park along the way. Ngong Ping Village is located near the Ngong Ping Cable Car Station and the Big Buddha, covering an area of 1.5 hectares. Its architectural and landscape design highlights the unique cultural ambiance and spirit of Ngong Ping. In addition to vibrant attractions such as “The Journey of Enlightenment,” “Monkey’s Tale Theatre,” and “Ngong Ping Teahouse,” it also offers a wide variety of dining, shopping, and entertainment facilities.
