"Rice Turtles, Aged Liquor & Sorghum" on the Table – Experience Kinmen, Matsu & Penghu Without Flying

Kinmen, Matsu, and Penghu are three uniquely distinctive islands in Taiwan. Now, you can experience the beauty of these outlying islands without taking a plane or boat. Today (20th), the three counties held the "National Land Development Exhibition – Kinmen, Matsu & Penghu Outlying Islands Themed Week" at the former site of the Air Force Command Headquarters. Residents from the three islands brought local cultural relics and specialties, including Kinmen Kaoliang liquor, Matsu specialties, and Penghu’s unique rice turtles for the Lantern Festival, all warmly introduced by local residents.

The "National Land Development Exhibition – Kinmen, Matsu & Penghu Outlying Islands Themed Week" runs for seven days from the 20th to the 26th. The opening was lively inaugurated by a "drum performance" by Qimei Elementary School in Penghu. In the coming days, there will be a series of folk performances such as Kinmen’s "Public Carrying the Old Lady," Matsu’s "Bride’s Dance," and Penghu’s "Walking Under the Colorful Umbrella." There will also be DIY and interactive activities for all to enjoy. Participants can receive free gifts such as Kinmen’s painted wind lion god figurines, bird puppets, Matsu’s red yeast face masks, white twist pills, and Penghu’s shell jelly candles and large fishing boat models. Additionally, visitors to the themed exhibition hall can listen to Teresa Teng’s iconic voice broadcasting from Kinmen, experience cycling in Penghu, and witness Matsu’s "Blue Tears" phenomenon.

The first international tourist hotel in Kinmen, the "Golden Lake Hotel," and the duty-free mall "Golden Lake Plaza" officially opened yesterday (19th). Kinmen County Magistrate Chen Fu-Hai stated that to accommodate more mainland Chinese or international tourists, sufficient lodging capacity is essential. Coupled with the duty-free mall, the overall appeal of accommodation, travel, and shopping is greatly enhanced. He mentioned that since the implementation of the visa-on-arrival policy earlier this year, more mainland tourists have visited Kinmen. The area is now being better packaged, with hopes of achieving a one-day travel and lifestyle circle between Kinmen and Xiamen.
