Sheep "Plum" Power: Nantou Plum Festival 2015 Features Free DIY for 1,000 People

The annual Nantou Plum Festival begins on March 22. This year, it will feature a thousand-person free green plum DIY event, plum sushi, the Sheep Plum Power competition, and other activities, making it more vibrant and entertaining than in previous years.

Nantou’s plum-producing areas include Xinyi, Shuili, Guoxing, and Ren'ai Township, known as the "hometown of plums." The region leads the nation in hand-picked plum production, and its plum products have become increasingly diverse—crunchy plums, Q-plums, perilla plums, aged plums, plum vinegar, plum wine, and plum essence are all beloved by the public. This year, the Xinyi Farmers' Association, in conjunction with the plum festival marketing efforts and capitalizing on the popularity of the TV drama "Spring Plum," has launched a series of "Spring Plum" products. Through film and television-based cultural creativity marketing, the healthy and wellness image of plums is becoming even more widely recognized and appreciated by the public.

In addition to organizing plum-picking fun and tribal cultural experience camps, the 2015 Nantou Plum Festival series will also host green plum DIY events at farmers' associations across Taiwan. ※The thousand-person plum DIY event features on-site registration (completely free),where participants receive materials based on numbered tickets issued by the organizers, then proceed to their assigned DIY stations. Completed semi-finished products are given free of charge to participants.
