Peng Chau

Introduction

Peng Chau is an island in Hong Kong, administratively part of the Islands District. It is located southeast of Discovery Bay on Lantau Island and northeast of Mui Wo, covering an area of 0.98 square kilometres. The shape of Peng Chau resembles a Chinese character “凹” (concave), with the indented area being East Bay. The southern and northern parts are called South Bay and North Bay, respectively. Finger Hill is the highest point on the island, standing at 95 metres above sea level, offering views of Hong Kong Disneyland and Discovery Bay. There is a path on the island connecting it to Tai Lei Island. At the northeastern tip lies “Fishing Rock”. Shops on Peng Chau are concentrated around the pier area. There are no cars on the island, and bicycles are the main mode of transport. For external transport, the island relies entirely on ferries.   Transport

There are two transport options: the “Central to Peng Chau Route” and the “Central to Mui Wo Route”.   “Central to Peng Chau Route”

Fare: From Monday to Saturday, slow ferries (taking about 50 minutes) cost HK$11.3 for standard seats and HK$17.8 for deluxe seats; fast ferries (taking about 25 minutes) cost HK$21. On Sundays and public holidays, slow ferry standard seats are HK$16.7, deluxe seats HK$26, and fast ferries HK$31.

Operating hours: Central Pier 6 – Peng Chau: daily from 03:00 to 00:30 the next day. Peng Chau – Central Pier 6: daily from 03:25 to 23:30 (23:35 on Sundays and public holidays). On weekdays, the 06:15, 07:00, and 08:10 services, as well as the 07:00 service on Sundays and public holidays, depart from Mui Wo with a stopover at Peng Chau.   “Central to Mui Wo Route”

Operating hours: Central Pier 6 – Mui Wo: the 03:00 service stops at Peng Chau daily. Mui Wo – Central Pier 6: on weekdays, the 05:55, 06:35, and 07:50 services, as well as the 06:35 service on Sundays and public holidays, stop at Peng Chau.
